O'Neil she was in her high school times during the auditions, tried out for the third season of Canadian Idol within the early months of 2005. She advanced into the top 100 rounds since the judges were impressed at her singing performance. O'Neil received praise of high quality from the judges. However, she experienced significant defeats during the Top 10 and Top 9 weeks of the finals, when she was put to the bottom three or the bottom two spots, respectively.
